Domestic Violence in Appalachian Ohio
Data for this study were gathered using focus groups. Three focus groups were conducted with victims in Brown County, Monroe County, and Columbiana County. A total of 22 participants meeting these criteria participated in the focus groups: 7 in Brown County, 8 in Columbiana County, and 7 in Monroe County.

Healthy Ohio
Healthy Ohio is a key component of Governor Ted Strickland's comprehensive health care reform initiative and is located in the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). Healthy Ohio's goal is to improve the health of all Ohioans to create a better quality of life, assure a more productive workforce and equip students for learning, while also contributing to the more efficient and cost-effective use of medical services. Healthy Ohio's three core program areas of health promotion, disease prevention and health equity work collaboratively with public and private partners and consult with the Healthy Ohio Advisory Council to create the changes in communities, worksites, schools and health care settings that lead to better health for all Ohioans.

Ohio: Family Health Survey (1998)
The 1998 Ohio Family Health Survey was developed to obtain baseline statewide data on health insurance coverage, health status, health risk behaviors, access to care, health care utilization, health care costs, satisfaction with care and unmet health needs. The Gallup Organization conducted telephone polls of approximately 16,000 Ohio households between January and August 1998. Interviews were conducted with one adult in each polled household. Information was also gathered on nearly 6,000 children from interviews with adult family members.
Ohio: Family Health Survey (2004)
The 2004 Ohio Family Health Survey was conducted by ODJFS and other research partners to investigate health care status and health insurance coverage among the entire Ohio population. It is intended to provide better data on health issues in Ohio than had been available from other, national surveys, such as the Census Bureau's Current Population Survey. Reports on various issues using the survey data will be published from time to time on this site.
The Ohio Family Health Survey (2008)
The Ohio Family Health Survey is the largest state sponsored health survey in the USA. The 2008 survey of 51,000 families in Ohio has just been completed. The survey questions include health status, health care access and utilization, satisfaction, insurance status, as well as general family structure, demographics and geography. The 2008 survey is sponsored by the Ohio Departments of Insurance, Job and Family Services, Health, and Mental Health. The survey is being used to inform state and local policy makers concerning the impact of health care reform strategies on the State of Ohio and its citizens.
Oral Health and Dental Care for Ohioans (2007)
This brief updates previous reports on access to dental care1-2, by highlighting findings from four recent surveys: the 2004 Ohio Family Health Survey3, the 2004 Behavioral Risk Factor Survey4 and the Ohio Third Grade (2004-05)5 and Head Start (2002-03)6 Oral Health Surveys.
Ohio Health Care Reform

Supreme Court of Ohio
The Supreme Court also has appellate jurisdiction in cases involving questions arising under the Ohio or United States Constitutions, cases originating in the courts of appeals, and cases in which there have been conflicting opinions on the same question from two or more courts of appeals. The Supreme Court hears all cases in which the death penalty has been imposed.
The Ohio Poverty Report (2007)
This report covers changes from 1989 through 2005, although most of the detailed data analysis is based on the decennial censuses (1989 and 1999) and the American Community Survey (2004-2005). This report provides a general description of trends and variations in poverty in Ohio.
Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey
The YRBSS was developed in 1990 to monitor priority health risk behaviors that contribute markedly to the leading causes of death, disability, and social problems among youth and adults in the United States. These behaviors, often established during childhood and early adolescence, include tobacco use, unhealthy dietary behaviors, inadequate physical activity, alcohol and drug use, sexual behaviors, injuries, and violence.
