- American Association of Diabetes Educators
- AADE is a multidisciplinary association of health care professionals dedicated to integrating successful self-management as a key outcome in the care of people with diabetes and related conditions. This national organization has more than 100 AADE local chapters throughout the nation, each with its own elected officers, and 20 Specialty Practice Groups.

- Check out this site for a complete online school or curriculum/course. They offer a comprehensive Diabetes Self Management Education program that covers the American Diabetes Association recommended topics and more. Also, be sure to check out their health care provider resource materials that include some excellent illustrations that can be used in education.
- Diabetes Education Society (DES)
- The Diabetes Education Society is a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping people with diabetes increase the quality and length of lives and prevent the disease's complications. They have created a series of patient programs, professional seminars and computer software designed for the health care provider to use in instructing the patient in medical self-care and health promotion and in accepting greater responsibility for their health.
- International Diabetes Federation
- This is a worldwide alliance of over 200 diabetes associations in more than 160 countries, who have come together to enhance the lives of people with diabetes everywhere. For over 50 years, IDF has been a global diabetes advocate. The Federation is committed to raising global awareness of diabetes, promoting appropriate diabetes care and prevention, and encouraging activities towards finding a cure for the different types of diabetes. It is the mission of IDF to promote diabetes care, prevention and a cure worldwide.
- National Diabetes Education Initiative
- The National Diabetes Education Initiative® is an educational program on type 2 diabetes designed for endocrinologists, diabetologists, cardiologists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care and management of patients with type 2 diabetes. NDEI programs address issues concerning insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Topics of epidemiology and pathophysiology of the disease are covered. Information about complications, therapeutic options for treatment, and prevention are also covered.

- The University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute serves as the umbrella organization under which diabetes prevention, education, treatment, and research are coordinated at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh.
- Worldwide Initiative for Diabetes Education
- This is a charitable foundation dedicated to providing healthcare professionals throughout the world with training, education and information on diabetes. Their aim is to challenge and shape the future management of diabetes in order to provide optimal treatment for all patients and to enhance professional education for physicians and other diabetes professionals.
